The construction of this early-Baroque church was started in 1596. The model was the Roman Church Il Gesu.
The temple was built on a Latin cross plan, with a huge dome in the middle and the line of interconnected chapels. The rich interior decoration with the altars depicts the unity of the Western and Eastern Church, the primacy of the papacy and the missionary activity of the Jesuits. In the basement, there is the tomb of Rev. Piotr Skarga. In front of the façade of the church, there are huge statues of 12 Apostles.
