Muzeum Diecezjalne Tarnów
Diocesan Museum in Tarnów
The interesting, over 100 years old, Diocesan Museum is located in a beautiful spot just next to the Gothic Tarnów cathedral.
The precious collection comprises a large selection of Gothic scultptures and paintings from Małopolska. It also showcases chasubles and other sacred textiles, dating back to the Middle Ages, as well a collection of porcelain and clocks. Surprisingly good is the collection of Polish paintings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, including paintings by Wojciech Weiss and Jacek Malczewski. A large section is devoted to folk art, including glass painting, not only from Poland, but also from various European countries.
